Recovery
You're Working Hard — But Are You Recovering Smart?

One of the biggest things I see in fitness is people believing that more is always better.
More workouts. More weight. More intensity. More sweat.
And while I absolutely believe in challenging yourself, there's another part of fitness that doesn't get nearly enough attention: recovery.
I learned this lesson personally. After tearing my rotator cuff in 2022, I gained a completely different understanding of what it means to train smart. I realized that getting stronger isn't only about how hard you can push your body. It's also about how well you take care of it between those hard workouts.
That experience became a huge part of the philosophy behind Stretch Plus Flex: Train hard. Recover smarter.
What Actually Happens When You Recover?
A workout challenges your body. Recovery gives your body the opportunity to adapt to that challenge. Sleep, hydration, nutrition, mobility work, stretching, and appropriate rest all play a role in helping your body prepare for what comes next.
You don't lose progress by giving your body what it needs. Recovery is part of the progress.
More Isn't Always Better
I love hard workouts. I love watching my members discover that they're capable of doing something they couldn't do before. But there's a difference between challenging your body and constantly exhausting it.
Sometimes the smartest workout isn't the hardest one. Sometimes it's slowing down, working on mobility, focusing on technique, or giving your body time to recover. That's not weakness. That's smart training.
Listen to What Your Body Is Telling You
Your body communicates with you all the time. Feeling a little tired after a challenging workout can be completely normal. But constantly feeling run-down, unusually sore, or noticing that your performance keeps declining may be a sign that it's time to look at your recovery.
One of the things I emphasize at Stretch Plus Flex is learning the difference between challenging yourself and ignoring your body. Fitness should build you up — not constantly beat you down.
Mobility Is Part of Recovery
Recovery doesn't necessarily mean doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes movement is exactly what your body needs — just a different kind of movement.
Mobility work, controlled stretching, breathing, and lighter movement can give you an opportunity to work on how your body moves without adding another intense training session.
That's one reason mobility is such an important part of what I do at Stretch Plus Flex. I don't want my members to just be able to work hard. I want them to be able to keep working hard for years to come.
Coach Roxy's Tip
Don't measure every successful workout by how exhausted you are when it's over.
Ask yourself: Did I move well? Did I challenge myself appropriately? Did I give my body what it needed today?
Some days you'll push. Some days you'll restore. Both matter.
Train Hard. Recover Smarter.
Fitness isn't about seeing how much punishment your body can take. It's about building a stronger, more capable body — and taking care of that body along the way.
That's the philosophy behind Stretch Plus Flex.
Strength. Mobility. Core. Conditioning. Recovery. They all work together.
Because the goal isn't just to get through today's workout. The goal is to keep moving, keep progressing, and keep doing the things you love for years to come.
